I was recently a guest on the local FOX affiliate’s 10:00 news program for a discussion of the long-running case of Palmer v. District of Columbia, challenging Washington, D.C.’s status as the only place in the United States that still has no law that even lets people apply to carry firearms outside the home for personal protection. I debated former District of Columbia Attorney General Peter Nickles; the discussion starts after a short background story.
For more on the case, here’s a story by the station’s political reporter, Emily Miller. Before joining the station, Emily wrote for the Washington Times. Her series on the difficulty of legally buying a gun in the District later became her first book, Emily Gets Her Gun.
